Port-of-Spain, Trinidad: May 11, 2018: While starting a small business can be a rewarding achievement, keeping it sustainable and thriving can be a challenge and doing so in stormy economic times can be incredibly daunting. But, at the Republic Bank ActionCLUB Graduation Ceremony on Wednesday May 9, the newfound confidence and optimism shared by the workshop’s graduates showed that with the right tools and the right support, we can empower our small business community to build businesses that stand the test of time and make a vital contribution to our country’s economic growth.

The Republic Bank ActionCLUB workshop was designed to help small business owners and other self-employed professionals navigate the many challenges they currently face as well as those they might face in the future. 27 of the Bank’s commercial customers participated in the workshop, which was facilitated by Indira Couch, CEO of ActionCOACH Trinidad and Tobago, between October 12, 2017 and February 1, 2018.

The programme covered a broad range of topics, including time, team and money management, marketing and achieving growth in customers, revenue and profits. The topics were specially selected to suit the specific challenges faced by our local business community and to empower them with the capacity to meet those challenges.

In delivering remarks at the workshop’s graduation ceremony, Republic Bank’s Managing Director, Nigel Baptiste, reminded the graduates that the success of the programme can be seen in their ability to adjust to the challenges that confront them. He also encouraged the graduates to put their experience to good use, challenging them to be active citizens rather than passive spectators in the construction of a brighter economic future.
