Young People To Benefit From Republic Bank's "Next Steps" Scholarship Programme

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, February 26, 2016: Some of this country’s creative minds are well on their way, to making their life-long dreams a reality, as Republic Bank Limited in partnership with the Decibel Dream Big Foundation, has implemented a “Next Steps” scholarship programme, that will benefit 12 young people in the creative arts stream.

This announcement was made at the media launch for the Republic Bank Decibel Entertainment and Expo 2016 held at the Helen May Johnson Room, Queen’s Hall, St. Anns, on February 23. Sharing the Bank’s vision, Tisha Lee, Manager, Group Corporate Communications, Group Marketing and Communications Department said, it was important as a Bank, to use its resources, to give young achievers every advantage to succeed.

“We have done this because we believe that the best way to support young people in realizing their full potential, is to encourage them to be more adventurous in their learning and by finding new ways, to facilitate exploration of education outside of the classroom,” said Lee.

The Conference and Entertainment Expo will be held on Thursday 28 April, with a full concert featuring some of this country’s young and upcoming artistes on Friday 29 April and conclude on Saturday April 30 at the The Queen’s Hall, St. Ann’s. The event is expected to host thousands of students from both Secondary Schools and Tertiary Education facilities.

Simone Baptiste, Chief Executive Officer, Question Mark Entertainment and the founder of Decibel Dream Big Foundation, applauded the Bank for embracing their vision to afford young people an avenue to fulfill their passions in the arts and entertainment.

Outlining some of the activities for this year’s edition of Decibel, which includes; RS Teen Fandom, Magic Nights by Darcy Oake and RS Live- the Concert Experience among others, Baptiste said, that the event promises to be bigger and better, with an additional day planned for the entire family, inclusive of Zombie Island theme Park, entitled, “Asylum”.

Another added attraction, Captain T&T, a thrill seeker's Parlour Paradise, based on Christopher Guinness multi award winning film, under same title, is guaranteed to be a “crowd pleaser”.

Republic Bank is the title Sponsor of this event in conjunction with Question Mark Entertainment, as part of its commitment to youth development through education; a focus of the Bank’s Power to Make a Difference programme.
