Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, May 8, 2019: Republic Bank celebrated the loyalty and contributions of its staff at its Long Service Awards ceremony at the Hyatt Regency, Port of Spain on Saturday, May 4, 2019 under the theme ‘Focussed. Committed. Driven.’ The ceremony recognised 204 members of staff with service ranging from 20 years to 40-plus years.

In delivering the feature address at the event, Republic Bank’s Managing Director, Nigel Baptiste, highlighted the fact that many of the Bank’s longest serving staff would have helped see the Bank through decades of evolution including transitions in leadership, growth in profits and the continuing expansion of the Republic Group.

He said “Our honourees have made Republic Bank the organisation we are today. An organisation anyone should be proud to be a part of. An organisation respected throughout the Caribbean and globally.”

Mr. Baptiste’s message highlights the value of long serving employees at a time when extensive service to any one organisation is often underplayed as a thing of the past. But a closer look at the evening’s awardees reveals the fabric of an organisation that credits the tenure of its employees as one of the secrets to its success.

From the 40-year awardee who can recall his first days as a post boy to the group of 7 who started at the same branch 35 years ago before going on to serve in leadership positions in Trade Services, Forex, Credit Analysis, Customer Support, Corporate Services and Group Marketing and Communications – the Bank’s long serving staff are a picture of the talents, personalities and service that shape its identity.

Together they have built an organisation that has not only stood the test of time but has also grown to be one of the most successful financial groups in the region.
