Power To Make A Difference Programme Marks Over 20 Years of Community Investment

Port of Spain, 9 October 2026 - Marking over 20 years of community investment, Republic Bank’s Power to Make a Difference (PMAD) programme has launched its 2026/2027 cycle, with more than 87 partners, initiatives and donees set to receive support for initiatives that improve lives and strengthen communities across the region.

Launched at Republic House on October 8 under the theme “Shaping Our Future, Sustaining Our Impact,” the programme continues the Bank’s longstanding commitment to social investment and sustainable community development. To date, approximately TT$70 million has been contributed towards initiatives under the Bank’s five-year commitment for the period 2023 to 2028.

The 2026/2027 programme will support non-governmental, educational and charitable organisations, as well as initiatives focused on education, culture, healthcare, inclusion, sport and youth development, environmental preservation, poverty alleviation and entrepreneurship.

Addressing attendees at the launch, Preston George, General Manager, Group Marketing and Communications at Republic Bank, highlighted the programme’s evolution from a locally based corporate social responsibility initiative into a regional platform for social investment and community development, reflecting the increasingly interconnected challenges facing communities across the region.

“Our partners bring the experience, expertise and understanding of the communities they serve, while we bring financial resources, our people and the capabilities of the Republic Group. Together, these strengths allow us to move beyond short-term assistance and support initiatives that can create meaningful and lasting change,” George said.

The programme’s approach extends beyond financial contributions. Through collaboration with partner organisations, engagement with community members, Republic Bank seeks to better understand community needs and support initiatives that foster stronger, more resilient communities. Staff volunteerism also remains an important part of this commitment, with employees contributing over 5000 hours of their personal time to share their skills and knowledge with various communities.

The 2026/2027 theme, “Shaping Our Future, Sustaining Our Impact,” reflects the Bank’s commitment to purposeful action, accountability and sustainable solutions. It reinforces the importance of building on progress already achieved while ensuring that the initiatives supported today create lasting benefits for future generations.

Over two decades, PMAD has evolved into a cornerstone of community investment across the territories in which the Republic Group operates. Its work is also aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, providing a framework for contributing to broader development priorities, including quality education, reduced inequalities, sustainable communities and climate action.

As the programme enters its 24th year, Republic Bank remains committed to deepening its partnerships, investing where support can have the greatest impact and working alongside organisations that are creating meaningful change within their communities. working alongside organisations that are creating meaningful change within their communities.
