Port of Spain, Trinidad, Thursday March 19, 2020: In response to reports that two of Republic Bank’s branches were visited by customers who reportedly tested positive for the Coronavirus, the Bank advised that it has implemented a number of measures in accordance with its own laid down protocols for the treatment of such matters and in consultation with the Ministry of Health.

Since the medical status of the customers has not been confirmed, the Bank instituted several precautionary measures, including additional sanitization of each location. The Ministry of Health has advised the Bank that it will follow up as necessary.

It has also been reported that a relative of one of the Bank’s employees tested positive for the Virus. The Bank’s Managing Director, Nigel Baptiste, said, “We have been advised that the Ministry of Health has contacted the family and will take the appropriate action, in keeping with its COVID-19 guidelines. The well-being of our staff, customers and communities is of the highest importance to us and we have been taking the necessary precautions to ensure their safety. We, like the rest of the global community, are adapting to the new normal imposed by this virus and we shall continue to guide our staff and customers, accordingly.”
